SB Creative Corp. (headquartered in Tokyo, Minato Ward, headed by Kosei Tsuchihashi) announced the exhibition of Intelligent Shelf Service at NRF BIG SHOW 2015, held by the National Retail Federation.
NRF BIG SHOW 2015 is known as the largest exhibition for retail technologies and solutions in the world. It is held by the National Retail Federation, which owns more than 1.6 million companies as its members, at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, NY, USA, from January 11th (Sun.) to January 13th (Tue) 2015. SB Creative Corp. will exhibit Intelligent Shelf at Intel Corporation's booth to demonstrate their new solution for enhancing omni-channel marketing strategy.
Intelligent Shelf is a new type of informative station equipped with a digital signage function set on product shelves in retail stores. Conventional digital signage requires space for installing terminal units, but Intelligent Shelf can be installed directly to product shelves, providing the needed signage function without taking up extra space.
Intelligent Shelf is also equipped with a short range communication device under the Bluetooth Low Energy standard, allowing it to communicate with a customer's mobile device. With the short range communication device, Intelligent Shelf can send various information to a customer's dedicated application that SB Creative provides, creating an environment where one-on-one interactive communication becomes possible. For example, when customers stand in front of an Intelligent Shelf, they can receive the latest information of products or limited time coupons by linking Intelligent Shelf with their smart-phones or tablet PCs. Besides getting information, customers can also use the service to purchase products that are not displayed or out of stock online. Intelligent Shelf and its ability to communicate with mobile devices, combining the experience of in-store shopping together with the online experience, helps promote omni-channel marketing strategies.
In Japan, SB Creative Corp. is providing Intelligent Shelf service for bookstores as a pilot project since 2014 July. They deployed large screen display and smartphone-sized digital signage to bookshelves, providing customer detailed information of physical books, related information of series or backlist, and news from bookstores such as forthcoming publications. SB Creative Corp. is not limiting Intelligent Shelf to bookstores; they are also planning on expanding to various kinds of retailers such as supermarkets and convenience stores.
With the opportunity to exhibit Intelligent Shelf at NRF BIG SHOW 2015 with the support of Intel Corporation, SB Creative Corp. will look into possibilities in oversea market, hope to answer various customers' needs throughout the world, and continue to offer innovative and attractive solutions.
